Casio EDIFICE EFV-600D-2AVUEF

The Casio Edifice EFV-600D-2A is a mid-size standard Edifice chronograph that trades the layered, architectural dials of the EFR-556 family and the minimal approach of the EFV-610 series for something more atmospheric. Casio describes the design language themselves: the gradient on the dial is meant to evoke the night sky during a night race, and the bright green coloring on the second hand and inset dial hand is placed there as the high-visibility accent the driver would need to read the watch at speed in low light. It’s a clean concept, and on the wrist the idea translates well — a deep blue sunray surface that fades from lighter at the centre to near-black at the edges, with two small flashes of green doing the work of bringing the composition to life.

The case measures 43.8 mm wide and 11.1 mm thick in stainless steel, with a weight of 135 grams on the matching bracelet. That puts the EFV-600D-2A in the same mid-size, slim-profile category as the EFV-610 — comfortable under a shirt cuff, but with enough presence on the wrist to read as a proper sports chronograph. A screw-lock caseback and 10 bar (100 m) water resistance make it suitable for daily wear and swimming, and a mineral crystal protects the dial. The stainless steel bracelet uses a one-touch three-fold folding clasp.

The dial layout is the classic three-register chronograph. The central blue gradient carries slim applied silver hour markers and sword-style hour and minute hands with luminous fill, and three recessed sub-dials are arranged vertically — a 1/10-second chronograph counter at 12, chronograph minutes at 9 and chronograph seconds at 6. A date window sits at 4:30. The bright green second hand sweeps across all of it, and the inset dial hand at 12 is finished in the same green for visual consistency. The overall effect is purposeful and a little theatrical — a chronograph that actually commits to a design idea rather than just stacking features.

Inside is Casio’s quartz chronograph module 5579, driving a 1/10-second stopwatch with elapsed time, split time and 1st–2nd place time modes, a maximum measuring capacity of 59 minutes 59.9 seconds, and a rated accuracy of ±20 seconds per month. Power comes from an SR920SW battery with approximately three years of life — a year longer than its closest EFV-610 sibling, thanks to the different module. The EFV-600D-2A sits alongside the -3CV camouflage variant and the -4A twilight/orange variant as part of a small themed family within the line; the -2A is the “deep night” interpretation, and arguably the most cohesively finished of the three.
